The auction for the first Chevrolet Volt has come to an end, with the winning bidder putting up $225,000 for what might be a very lucrative investment.

And while its future value might be unknown, what is certain is that the $225,000 isn't going to be wasted with the proceeds going to the Detroit Public Schools Foundation in support of Science, Technology, Math and Engineering.

Starting at $50,000 the price climbed…

The 2011 Chevrolet Volt is a car of the future that you can drive today.

The critics agree, it's more car than most cars, too. Motor Trend Magazine has given the all-new Volt the distinguished 2011 Car of the Year award.

Motor Trend says: "In the 61-year history of the Car of the Year award, there have been few contenders as hyped -- or as controversial -- as the Chevrolet Volt. The Volt started life an…
What do we call eliminating 8 million metric tons of carbon from the air? We call it a start.

Starting today, when you buy a Chevy, you'll be a part of renewable energy, energy efficiency and tree-planting projects in local communities across America. When completed, these new initiatives will reduce our total carbon emissions by up to 8 million metric tons over the next few years.*

Will this alone be the solution? No, but…

Chevrolet Auctions Volt for Charity Online

As announced by Chevrolet yesterday, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt is now on it's way to Chevy dealers, including Courtesy Chevrolet.  As a part of that announcement, at Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly, GM North America President Mark Reuss announced that the first Chevrolet Volt available for sale would be auctioned online, with 100 percent of the proceeds to benefit the Detroit Public Schools Foundation.

Chevrolet Volt Named Among “Top Products of 2010"

Calling it nothing less than a "brilliant idea," the team at Popular Mechanics recently honored the 2011 Chevrolet Volt as one of its "Top Products of 2010."

The key for the prestigious publication? The Volt's innovative powertrain, which delivers up to 50 miles of emissions-free-and anxiety-free-electric driving. It's like this: With other electric vehicles, when you're out juice, you're out of luck. But if the Volt's batteries are depleted, the?

When people think of Black Friday shopping, they usually think of things like TVs, clothes and small appliances. Now you can add cars, trucks and SUVs.

November 26th is Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, and is the best day to buy a car, according to car pricing researchers at www.truecar.com.

Looking at day-by-day car pricing for the past several years, their data revealed that discounts on Black Friday are the biggest of the year.

"Dealership's discounts and manufacturers' rebates and special offers result in the greatest markdowns of the year on Black Friday," said Mr. Toprak, of Truecar.com.

Average new car discounts on November 26th is projected to be 7.5%. The average discount the days before and after are expected to be around 6%.

Be sure to get in on the Black Friday Madness

"Dealerships typically spend a lot of money on advertising for that day," said Toprak "but it's not usually a particularly big day for car shopping."

That's probably the reason for the extra-large discounts, Toprak speculated. Auto dealers that aren't getting the usual amount of business just keep trying harder.

It's Crunch Time for Dealers

Black Friday happens to fall close to the end of the month this year when car deals are typically sweeter as the month goes on because dealerships must meet their sales quotas in order to get additional incentives from the manufacturers.

Besides the usual monthly deadlines, dealers are also under pressure to clear out 2010 cars and trucks before the end of the calendar year. Those cars will be harder to sell after December 31st, when they become "last year's" models!

Three days ago, Chevrolet let loose with official details, pictures and even a few videos of the 2011 Camaro Convertible just ahead of the car's official debut at the LA Auto Show. The droptop pony car hasn't been a secret for some time now, but this is our first real look at a standard production model.

Perhaps it's because the concept version debuted nearly four years ago in Detroit or because we…
