The auction for the first Chevrolet Volt has come to an end, with the winning bidder putting up $225,000 for what might be a very lucrative investment.

And while its future value might be unknown, what is certain is that the $225,000 isn't going to be wasted with the proceeds going to the Detroit Public Schools Foundation in support of Science, Technology, Math and Engineering.

New Federal Law Proposed Would Require Backup Cameras



USA Today reported that The Transportation Department has proposed new rear visibility rules that would, in effect, require backup cameras in all cars and light trucks by the 2014 models. The estimated cost of the systems -- a video camera at the rear of the vehicle and an interior display -- would add about $200 to the price of a vehicle.

Chevrolet Auctions Volt for Charity Online

As announced by Chevrolet yesterday, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt is now on it's way to Chevy dealers, including Courtesy Chevrolet.  As a part of that announcement, at Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly, GM North America President Mark Reuss announced that the first Chevrolet Volt available for sale would be auctioned online, with 100 percent of the proceeds to benefit the Detroit Public Schools Foundation.
